My Whole 30 Journey

Last January, Levi and I completed a Whole 30 after reading the book “It Starts with Food”. I was excited to have found a book that teaches & supports you through a nutritional reset. We completed it successfully and actually had a lot of fun. Spending so much energy on getting through the 30 days together sparked some creativity in our meal choices and inspired us to continue down a healthier road overall.

The simple fact was that we wanted to feel better – and doing the Whole 30 totally worked for us.  Over the course of 30 days, I personally lost 17 pounds by changing my diet alone!  Now I know it was mostly water weight, and not a miracle diet or anything….my body was simply adjusting to not consuming so much sodium, processed junk and sugar.  But it sure did feel nice to be able to wear a few items in my closet that hadn’t seen the light of day for a while.

I documented the food we had through Instagram >> just search for #whole30mcg to see our what we had to eat!

So here we are, at the beginning of a new year. After about 2 months of consuming ridiculous amounts of sugar, and a completely lax grip on the foods we were eating in general…..it’s time for us to reset again. I couldn’t be more excited either! I’ve set some goals for myself for 2014 (posts coming soon), and this is just a little kickstart to hit the target for my health this year.

I had so many questions last year about the book and what we are eating, that I’m going to do my best to document the next 30 days again on Instagram – find me @mcg_samantha or search #mcgwhole30 to stay connected with what is going on.  I’ll try my best to offer up recipes and links to questions you may have!
